District Five Releases Phase 3 Of "Roadmap To Reopening" Plan
Spartanburg District Five Schools will continue the return to full face-to-face instruction, as intermediate schools will begin five day attendance later this month. 5th and 6th grade students will return to a full-time, five days a week schedule on Monday, October 26. Middle and high schools will remain on the hybrid schedule, with alternating Fridays, for now.
Along with this newest transition, the district announced it has invested in plexiglass barriers, that are currently being installed in classrooms across the district. It's just additional precaution the district is taking to make its classrooms as safe as possible for students and staff. While the barriers do NOT replace the use of masks, updated DHEC guidance allows the traditional social distancing space of six feet to be reduced to three feet when plexiglass is in use.
The announcement of Phase 3 only impacts students who are attending school for in-person instruction, and will not change the schedule for students in the Spartanburg Five Virtual Academy. The district did announce it would be releases its formal application for any Virtual Academy students who wish to return to face-to-face instruction on October 21, 2020. The application will be available online, and must be turned in on, or before, November 4, 2020.
