Trustees Honored For School Board Recognition Month

school board with students All District Five schools took time out in January to honor the district's Board of Trustees, during the month designated across South Carolina as "School Board Recognition Month". While they are elected bodies, school boards like the one in District Five, work entirely as volunteers and without compensation.  Each of District Five's nine Trustees spend countless hours in district meetings, visiting schools, and promoting the district throughout the community.

To mark School Board Recognition Month, District Five Schools "adopt" a board member, and then select a book to present to them at their January meeting.  A second copy of the book is placed in the school's library as a permanent tribute to the board member and reminder of their service.

Throughout the month, schools also invited board members to their campus for tours, meals, and time with students and teachers.

Thank you to our District Five Board of Trustees!  We are grateful for all you do!
