Dr. Gary Inspires District's New Teachers

induction teachers Superintendent Dr. Randall Gary offered some pointed advice for a group of District Five's newest teachers this week:  relationships matter and enjoy the ride.  The words were addressed to the district's newest group of "induction teachers", educators who are brand new to the profession of teaching.  This year, District Five has 45 induction teachers in all 12 campuses across the district.

"Every single profession in the world exists because there was a great teacher behind those people," Dr. Gary told the group.  "This is the greatest job in the world."

The induction program is a state requirement that gives new teachers a structured, supportive system where they can learn all aspects of teaching, from classroom management to successful methods and strategies to use with students.

In District Five, each induction teacher is paired with a mentor to help ensure their success.  Mentors meet with inductees throughout the year to guide and advise them on best practices in the classroom.
