Spartanburg District Five Schools is currently looking for a passionate, student-centered Superintendent to lead its innovative, growing district of nearly 9,000 students and 12 schools. The search comes following the retirement announcement of current Superintendent Dr. Scott Turner, who has led the District for 15 years. Dr. Turner's retirement is effective June 30, 2019, at the end of the current school year.
In January, District Five's Board of Trustees selected Coleman, Lew, Canny, and Bowen, an executive search firm based in Charlotte, N.C., to lead a national search for a new Superintendent. In early February, the firm conducted multiple focus groups, made up of district staff, administrators, teachers, parents, students, community and business members, to determine the most desired qualities and characteristics of a new leader.
