On Wednesday, February 17th at 6:30pm, Thornwell, a non-profit organization, is offering a one hour virtual workshop entitled “Who’s In Charge?” for parents, caregivers, or anyone interested. Attendees will learn techniques on how to avoid power struggles with their children and walk away feeling empowered to tackle the challenge of parenting.

Join the D.R. Hill Tiger Academic Program! Every Monday and Tuesday afternoon from 3-4pm.
$10 fee to join for the whole year!

All students interested in playing football: D.R. Hill WILL be fielding 7th and 8th grade football teams this year. We will begin practice on Aug. 24. You must have an up-to-date physical on file in order to participate.
There will be sign-up information in the front office. All interested participants should see Coach Johnson or Coach Teal.

FOR VIRTUAL SCHOOL STUDENTS:
- Virtual School students can pick up a meal kit each Monday from 9:00 AM -11:00 AM at Duncan Elementary or River Ridge Elementary.
- Parents should contact their child’s school by Wednesday at 12:00 PM the preceding week to order a meal kit.
- These meals are NOT free. Students must show ID or provide evidence that they attend a District Five school when meals are picked up.
- Meals will be picked up at the cafeteria entrance. If schools are closed on Monday, then meals will be available on Tuesday that week.
FOR A/B DAY STUDENTS
- A –Day students will receive meals as they leave on Monday (for Tuesday) and Wednesday (for Thursday and Friday).
- B-Day students will receive meals as they leave on Tuesday (for Wednesday) and Thursday (for Friday and Monday).
- Meals should be available for both car and bus riders.
- A student ID must be presented (7-12) or student name provided (K-6) when meals are picked-up at the distribution point.
- Students must show their student ID when meals are picked up.

- Open season baseball practice will start on Monday, Dec. 16th from 3:45-6pm at the Byrnes Baseball field. All necessary baseball equipment is encouraged (hat, glove, bat, cleats, baseball pants).
- Boys soccer tryouts will start on January 7th at 4pm at Beech Springs.
- The boys lacrosse workouts are held daily from 3:45pm-5:45pm at the Byrnes high school.
- Girls soccer workouts will be held at Beech Springs from 4:30-6:30pm this week 12/16
- Open season practice for all middle school girls (both new and returning wanting to tryout for softball: December 18th, January 8th, January 15th and January 22nd at Beech Springs Intermediate from 3:45-5:30pm. Students may ride the activity bus to Beech Springs. Softball weight lifting is after school on Tuesdays/Thursdays this week 12/16 and will resume after the holiday break on Tuesdays/Thursdays starting January 14th - February 3rd. Tryouts will be February 3rd and 4th from 3:30-6pm.
- You must have a sports physical on file to participate.
- If you'd like to ride the athletic bus to practice or workouts, you must have your student ID.

Congratulations to our DRH band program! Our students have been selected to participate in the Grand National Adjudicators Invitational in Atlanta, GA on April 24-25th 2020.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a non-profit international organization, whose purpose is to provide service and programs to promote human welfare. Catching the Dreams of Tomorrow, Preparing Young Women for the 21st Century: The Delta Academy was created out of an urgent sense that bold action was needed to save our young females (ages 11-14) from the perils of academic failure, low self-esteem, and crippled futures. Delta Academy provides an opportunity for local chapters to enrich and enhance the education that our young teens receive in public schools across the nation. Specifically, we augment their scholarship in math, science, and technology, their opportunities to provide service in the form of leadership through service learning defined as the cultivation and maintenance of relationships.
