  • D.R. Hill Middle School Closure Plan

    Friday, May 15th:  All Online Assignments and Paper Packets Due 

    • Students will be allowed to turn in make-up work until May 26th, but no new assignments will be given after May 15th.

    Thursday, May 21st: Turn In Laptops, Library Books, and Textbooks

    • 7th Grade: 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM
    • 8th Grade: 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
      • Parents will drive through the car line lane to turn in their child’s laptop and textbooks
      • A faculty member will be outside to pick these items up from the vehicle and deliver the yearbook.

    Thursday, May 28th: Locker Clean Out, Turn in Instruments, Fee Collection, Distribute Yearbooks

    • 7th Grade: 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
    • 8th Grade: 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM
      • Students will be allowed in the building to clean out their lockers and turn in their instruments
      • Parents will be able to pay any fees for the year
      • School personnel will provide supervision on hallways

  • Food Pantry Assistance

    MTCC will continue distributing food, including Spring Break, during the following food pantry hours:


    Tuesday – 9:00 am until 1:00 pm
    Wednesday – 9:00 am until 1:00 pm
    Thursday – 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm

     

    Clients need to stay in their cars,
    the food will be distributed curbside.

     

    Utilities will not be disconnected
    at this time due to lack of payment.

  • School Counseling Week

    National School Counseling Week 2019 is Feb. 3–7.  The week, sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), highlights the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems and the tremendous impact they can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.   • South Carolina All-State Orchestra

    Please join us in congratulating Saylor Symborski, and 8th grade student here at D.R. Hill, for making the 1st Violin section in the 2020 SCMEA South Carolina All-State Orchestra.  Saylor made first chair in the SC Region One Orchestra Orchestra this fall and then auditioned for All-State earlier this month.  We are so proud of Saylor's hard work!

  • Athletics Announcements 

    •  Girls lacrosse is now practicing. If interested, email Mr. Bill Teal for the dates. 
    • Open season baseball practice will start on Monday, Dec. 16th from 3:45-6pm at the Byrnes Baseball field. All necessary baseball equipment is encouraged (hat, glove, bat, cleats, baseball pants).
    • Boys soccer tryouts will start on January 7th at 4pm at Beech Springs.
    • The boys lacrosse workouts are held daily from 3:45pm-5:45pm at the Byrnes high school.
    • Girls soccer workouts will be held at Beech Springs from 4:30-6:30pm this week 12/16
    • Open season practice for all middle school girls (both new and returning wanting to tryout for softball: December 18th, January 8th, January 15th and January 22nd at Beech Springs Intermediate from 3:45-5:30pm.  Students may ride the activity bus to Beech Springs.  Softball weight lifting is after school on Tuesdays/Thursdays this week 12/16 and will resume after the holiday break on Tuesdays/Thursdays starting January 14th - February 3rd.  Tryouts will be February 3rd and 4th from 3:30-6pm.

     

    Reminders:

    • You must have a sports physical on file to participate.
    • If you'd like to ride the athletic bus to practice or workouts, you must have your student ID.

    Thank you for ALL your support with FCS CFA Biscuits and our faculty soup sale.  BECAUSE OF YOU,  at least 11 children will have Christmas!  We are blessed and have blessed others....keep it going!  Thank you Thomas Cotter for the drum roll and Shannon Scott for allowing your room to be used every Friday (and for your pep talk with the kids this morning)!

    Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a non-profit international organization, whose purpose is to provide service and programs to promote human welfare.  Catching the Dreams of Tomorrow, Preparing Young Women for the 21st Century: The Delta Academy was created out of an urgent sense that bold action was needed to save our young females (ages 11-14) from the perils of academic failure, low self-esteem, and crippled futures.  Delta Academy provides an opportunity for local chapters to enrich and enhance the education that our young teens receive in public schools across the nation.  Specifically, we augment their scholarship in math, science, and technology, their opportunities to provide service in the form of leadership through service learning defined as the cultivation and maintenance of relationships.

    The application deadline is September 14, 2019.  Application can be submitted by mail or by scanning and emailling to the e-mail address below.

  • TAP After School Program

    The after school TAP (Tiger Academic Program) begins Monday, August 26th.  The cost is $10 for the year for students to join.  Snack is provided.  Attendance is optional.  Come as needed.
