Our focus as a magnet program is "Expressing Academic Excellence through Communication and the Arts." Communication and leadership skills are an important part of that focus because we believe that these skills will help students become successful individuals.
Since 2010, we have implemented the following:
Multi-media classes for grades 2 – 4 with introductory activities for K5 and first-grade students
Literary Arts classes for grades 2 – 4
Creative movement infused into P.E. classes
Artists-in-Residence visits in related arts classes
Community-wide exhibitions
Keyboarding lab for music classes
Extra-curricular activities such as participating in a traveling honors chorus, drama productions, and after-school classes
Our plans are to add the following:
Partnership with local leadership organizations
Student debate team
