Welcome to my teacher homepage! I am a Byrnes alumna and a graduate of the University of South Carolina Upstate. I am also currently in the final stages of completing a graduate degree through Converse College in Advanced Studies in English & Gifted Education. This will be my 15th year at Byrnes, and I am still happy to be teaching at "home" as a life-long rebel!  I truly consider it a privilege to teach at one of the finest schools in South Carolina. During the fall semester of 2016, I will be teaching Honors English II and Honors English IV. Additionally, I am the co-chair of the graduation committee and serve as one of the two senior sponsors guiding our seniors to commencement in May.

Outside of the classroom, I am a mother of two that spends much her time taxiing girls to dance class, tumbling lessons, and softball games several times a week!  My daughter Jenna is twelve and Kara is nine, and they are without a doubt the light of my life!  As a family, my husband Jon and I enjoy traveling with our girls on family trips during the summer months and spending quality time together throughout the year.  I am an avid reader and enjoy reading a wide range of authors and genres.  My all-time favorite author is Pat Conroy, a true master of the pen.  My favorite novel to teach is Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird because I believe that it is a story of timeless lessons from which all people should benefit.

I strive yearly and daily to teach a deeply enriching English course that strikes a strong balance in both literature and composition while providing students with both a practical application of our content and an opportunity for individual advancement through a challenging curriculum.

As a teacher, it is my goal to equip each of my students with the needed tools to succeed on their educational journey and to motivate them to approach learning as an exciting expedition while inspiring them to make that trip last a lifetime.  I look forward to a new, exciting journey this semester!
