Degrees and Certifications:
The first thing you need to know about me is that I don't mind being called a geek... in fact it is a name I embrace! I love math; I love puzzles and games; and I love computers and technology of all kinds! In fact, I was the kid in high school who had all the cool gadgets. To me, all that "stuff" is worthy of my time.
I also love the outdoors... give me a mountain trail, my Keens, some granola, and a hydration pack, and I'll be glad to hike for hours!
Teaching is my passion. I first wanted to be a teacher when I was in fifth grade. After some forays into several geeky majors in college, I dove head first into teaching... and have never looked back. This is my 14th year at D. R. Hill Middle School. I love middle schoolers and all the angst that comes with being a young teen. I chose to teach this age of students because seventh and eighth grades were my hardest in school. I tell them, "If I could make it through, they can too!"
On a personal note, I was born and grew up near Asheville, North Carolina. I am, through and through, a mountain girl. I have been married to the same wonderful guy for 29 years. We have a grown son and daughter and one grandson. I have been and am blessed!
