With the exception of the H.B.5 standard, the 2014 Science Standards as posted on the SDE's website were approved for implementation for the 2014-15 academic year by the State Board of Education on January 8, 2014 and by the Education Oversight Committee on February 10, 2014. 

 

It is the advice, not mandate, of the SCDE that all districts use the 2014 standards in conjunction with the crosswalks, which highlight any content from 2005 not covered in the new standards, during academic year 2015-16 instruction. SCPASS in grades 4-8 and the Biology 1 EOCEP will assess 2005 science standards but will also have 2014 science standards field test items.
