Welcome to the Lyman Elementary School Website!

Lyman Elementary School is helping all students develop the world class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing every student quality educational experiences in a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment, enabling each individual to succeed in life and function as a productive citizen.  We provide such an environment through the implementation of our district motto: “Every Child, Every Day.” We strive each day to meet the diverse needs of our students through effective teaching practices to ensure that every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Our faculty and staff are always seeking to learn new and innovative strategies to help each student succeed.  Students learn reading through a balanced literacy approach which includes the use of the Journeys Literacy Program, small group guided reading, reading intervention, and other literacy activities.  We are fully implementing all aspects of our Read to Succeed Literacy Plan.  This includes a 90 minute uninterrupted literacy block, a 30 minute writing workshop, and a 40 minute intervention block within our school master schedule.  Our school uses enVisions Math as the core of our math instruction as well as using guided math strategies in order to reach all our students and meet their needs.  We continue to seek ways to provide world class knowledge through rigorous standards and curriculum while accomplishing even greater academic success in the future.

At Lyman Elementary School, we know that helping students achieve world class skills while promoting life and career characteristics will ensure a brighter future for every child.   Opportunities for students are abundant in these areas at our school. Students have access to laptop computers and iPads in the classrooms, as well as other tablet devices.  Student leadership is encouraged through participation in Student Council, Pride Patrol, and the Captains of the Flag.  Our School Counselor in conjunction with our classroom teachers promote Character Traits each month and weekly goals related to developing these life skills are stressed to all our students in our morning messages each day.  Our students serve the school community through a variety of service learning projects such as food drives, Relay for Life, Jump Rope for Heart, The Humane Society, and March of Dimes.  Lyman also partners with Backpacks for Hope to provide food over the weekend for numerous needy students in our school family.

Through the hard work and dedication of our students, staff, and parents, Lyman Elementary has received Palmetto Gold Awards for absolute performance and Silver Awards for Closing the Achievement Gap.  At Lyman Elementary, we believe the school, families, and community all share in the awesome responsibility of educating our next generation of students.  Together, we can develop students with world class skills and life and career characteristic to be successful in the 21st Century and beyond.  Together we will continue to work to make Lyman Elementary an even greater place for our students to develop these world class skills.

We hope you enjoy our website!
