The District Five Board of Trustees is welcoming a new face! On Monday night, Meredith Gergley, a Lyman resident, was selected to represent district 5-2 on the board. That seat was vacated earlier this year.
Gergley, a wife and mother of three District Five students, was appointed by board members after a public forum where members heard from four potential candidates. Gergley told board members she'd use her experience in both business and community organizations, along with her input as a parent, to be an asset to the board.
Gergley, herself, is a graduate of Spartanburg District 6, and moved away from the area with her husband many years ago. They returned with their children and settled in Lyman in 2009. Her three children attend Byrnes Freshman Academy, Florence Chapel Middle School, and River Ridge Elementary. She has actively served on the PTO and School Improvement Council in recent years. She will officially be sworn in at the next Board of Trustees meeting on Monday, March 27, at Duncan Elementary School at 6:30 p.m.
Congratulations, and welcome to Meredith Gergley!
