  {dickard} I teach Family and Consumer Sciences classes in Foods and Nutrition I and II, and  Child Development.  I have served on the Renaissance Committee, the At-Risk Committee, as an ADEPT mentor and evaluator, and FCS (Fellowship of Christian Students) and am the chairperson for  FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America), a sponsor for the BETA Club and member of the Ring Committee, and a past board member for SCAFCCLA.  I have been involved in my profession as a member of  SCAFCS (South Carolina Association of Family and Consumer Sciences), ACTE (Association of Career and Technical Education) and ASCD (Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development).   I have served as the publicity chairperson for SCAFCS, 2003-04, have served on the curriculum committee to establish the standards for Foods and Nutrition I and II at the State Department of Education, and have hosted several district, upstate, and state workshops for SCAFCS and the State Department of  Education.   I am the 2006 South Carolina Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher of the Year, awarded to me on February 23, 2006 at the SCAFCS Annual Conference.  My classes are involved in the community through interrelated projects through FCCLA.  I achieved National Board Certification in 2002, achieved the Certified Family and Consumer Sciences teacher status in 2006, have led a national board workshop for Family and Consumer Sciences teachers at the State Department of Education, and was a presenter  of a CATE workshop at the Business and Education Summit in Charleston in June, 2004 and at the SCAFCS Conference in Greenville in February, 2005. I was honored by my AAFCS organization in 2007 in Reno, Nevada where I was selected as the second highest TOP Teacher of the Year. I am also certified in Social Studies and Gifted Education, having been graduated from Winthrop University with a B.S. in Family and Consumer Sciences and a M.Ed from Converse College in Gifted Education with a cognate in Social Studies.  In addition to teaching FACS, I taught AP US History, CP US History at TL Hanna High School.  I am married to Dr. Wayne Dickard, pastor of the Siloam Baptist Church in Easley, S.C.   We have two sons, Stephen and Daniel. Stephen served in Afghanistan in 2009-10 and received a Purple Heart as well as other medals. He is married to Jessica Kraft Dickard. They have a daughter (my granddaughter), Kylie.
